Know the author's background. This person needs to have a background in education and, ideally, should be trained in the latest educational methods, like brain_based teaching/learning. I personally would never use any materials with my child that didn't specifically mention being "brain_based." I am not talking about just "research_based." I see more and more sites claiming to have research_based materials, but what I find is definitely NOT based on how the brains actually learns. Brain_based learning is relatively new in the educational world, but most worksheet sites and materials are using old science or, more often, no science at all.
Lost in their favorite gizmos, today's kids are devoid of the fun learning aspect offered by preschool worksheets. For generations, worksheets for kids have been used by educators to develop logical, lingual, analytical, and problem_solving capabilities. It is a proven fact that children learn quickly in their formative years than at any time in their life. As a result, parents and educators give special importance to grooming kid's mind between 3 to 7 years of age who can be easily moulded to confident youngsters.
Integrating the above can help them really understand it when they come up in their educational endeavors. For the advanced level worksheet, some of higher questions examining their level of understanding should be included for them to practice. The students should be able to get from the worksheet the intention of the author, structure of paragraph, significance of passage and meaning of important words. Also for poems we should be able to know if the students have really understood : Making reference. Figurative language. Point of view. Text structure and interactive genre
